DSTA 3-day Workshop

These 3 days seemed to be very very far, but all of a sudden, they are here!

06 Jun 07

1st day of workshop at Hol Inn. I made many many new frens and of cos, the gals at my table were nice. The talk was conducted in a ballroom, so cool. It wasnt long before we got to have the 1st tea break.

The talks were boring and the lunch was quite stressful. Cos we had to lunch with the pple from the management, and our buddies and mentors. It turned out that my Gerry during the Assessment (Centre) was the senior manager of DSO and my management of the table (Table 11). And as usual, I wasnt paying attn to the talks, so when I was called for an interview, i couldnt ans one of the questions posed. Haha.

Then was the ice breaker. Not as boring as I thot cos there were activities for us to do. Time passed very fast before things came to an end. Anyway, I was the QC Manager for the upcoming talent showcase and part of the singing group as well. I hope it would be slack, cos I still have to work.

The talk that i have been looking forward to - Social Graces & Etiquette. There were 3 speakers- Coach Luke, Coach Kelvin and Coach Cindy. The talk was interesting except the parts by Coach Kelvin, which was extremely dry and boring. I guess it was becos of the minimal interaction and his funny accent. I was passing notes ard the table. I was called to the front, where Coach Luke analysed the way I dressed. He said that I'm a detailed and elaborate dresser, and I was quite doubtful. I was just being myself. Coach Cindy was beautiful of cos, if not she wouldnt be crowned Miss Singapore Vogue 2005/06. I managed to take a photo wif her, hehe. We were taught how to walk, sit, stand, dress, etc. Beneficial.

OBS Briefing by Miss Vivian Wong was last. Thats when I first knew of the ugly and scary details of OBS.

The fun-nest day of all, cos I got to go down to SHATEC for wine appreciation, dining etiquette and cooking classes. I was lucky to get a seat from Tampines, maybe cos it was still early.Andof cos, i slept all the way. I was 5 min late.

Dining etiquette was first. We were taught from making reservations to the real dining etiqutte. We even got practicals during lunch when we we were served a 4-course Western meal. We tasted 5 kinds of wine- 1 champagne, 2 red and 2 white wines. It was fun and interesting and of cos funny to see the faces turning red. Luckily I wasnt one of them. I finally understood the steps of actual wine tasting and the things to look out for in wines.'

Before our cooking class was a demo 1st. It was just a simple demo and I was mainly looking forward to the actual hands-on. I paired up wif Koon Seng and it was hard at 1st as the frying pan seemed to be too hot at first. We did some planning by cooking the Chicken stew which required the most time, first, followed by the sphagetti and fired rice. It seems like the fried rice was the easiest, yet we managed to burnt the red sausages to black coal almost immediately. Haha, the pan was too hot. We were fast as we used a lot of pots and pans, but we had a hard time washing too. Haha.

Though messy and stuffy, it was fun. The food? A bit too oily and salty. Haha.
